Abstract
Highways are one of the most vital land transportation infrastructure options, so it is important to have good road pavement planning/design. In addition to functioning as a connector between various locations, quality road pavement is certainly expected to provide a sense of security and comfort for drivers. This research aims to analyze the impact of vehicle loads on road pavement damage using quantitative methodology, with LHR data collection, traffic volume, and identification of road damage for three days (12 hours) at a study location along 2 km. Vehicle load analysis was carried out using the Equivalent Single Axle Load (ESAL) method and Truck Factor (TF) calculations Based on LHR data on the Bukittinggi Payakumbuh highway section with traffic data for light vehicles such as private vehicles, pick-ups, with a traffic volume of 3,132 units, a small bus traffic volume of 175 units, a large bus traffic volume of 41 units, a 2-axle truck traffic volume of 485 units, and a 3-axle truck traffic volume of 77 units. With a total LHR of 3,910 vehicles. Based on the calculation of vehicle traffic factors, the total ESAL value is 1,288.076 with the result of the Truck Factor calculation of 1.656 1, where the TF value indicates that the condition of road damage is caused by the load of vehicles passing through the highway section experiencing overload (Over Load).
